GANNETT PEAK (13,809′ or 4,209 m) is the highest point in Wyoming. To add to its list of “high points,” Gannett Peak is also the highest point in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem AND the highest peak/point in the Rocky Mountains outside of Colorado! Gannett is situated deep in the heart of the beautiful and rugged Wind River Range. Gannett Peak School is a community that works together as a team to create multiple opportunities for the success of all students.

Lying deep within the Wind River Range, it is surely one of the most difficult of the 50 state high points due to long approaches and tough climbing. Most often, Gannett is approached from the south via the Titcomb Basin / Bonney Pass route (40 miles round trip), or from the northeast Solo climb of Gannett Peak from camp in the upper Titcomb Basin. Bergshrund was still bridged in a couple of places. The snow slope above the bergshrund was mostly black ice, but the rock band on the right side provided enjoyable scrambling on low 5'th class terrain. The summit slope and ridge were mostly snow-free.
